Service to adoptive parents
Embraced By Grace will discuss the potential child with the prospective family and shall prepare them for the placement of a particular child by supplying/reviewing information with the family which will be presented in the following format.
The prospective family will receive a packet of information about the child they are seeking to adopt if the information is available:
- Written information about the child’s personal characteristics (birth name, weight, height, eye color, hair color, age, and personality traits);
- A copy of the child’s complete medical history and files;
- Academic potential and school performance records including report cards, if available and applicable;
- All available, non-confidential information about the child’s background and his/her birth family.
There will be at least three (3) home visits by the social work staff from Embraced By Grace (one (1) of which will require the entire prospective family to be available for interviews regardless of age).
All adoptive parents will be required to attend the Orientation for Adopted Parents which will begin the process of their individual adoption.
At least 10 hours of training will be required before an adoption will be approved by the Embraced By Grace social work team. Additional training will be offered and may be required for each prospective family. The Embraced By Grace social work team will determine which additional trainings (if any) will be required by each family before an adoption can take place. This requirement will be reviewed with each family and arrangements will be made to schedule trainings as they are offered. Final approval of an adoption WILL NOT be made until all required trainings are attended.
A representative from the Embraced By Grace social work staff will visit with the adoptive family and child at least monthly, after the placement of a child, until the adoption is finalized and will document these visits in the clients file in the form of a progress note and will form a basis for case planning with the family and child.
If Embraced By Grace places a child out of the state for the purposes of adoption, Embraced By Grace will comply with the s.409.401, et seq., FS., the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children. A request for supervision and services to be provided by another licensed child-placing agency WILL BE in writing and will include a written request for periodic status reports on the child’s progress and adjustment.
The process to adopt involves several steps including:
