Nightlight is a biblically based, Christ-centered ministry
in all that we are and all that we do.
We believe that children are a gift and blessing from the Lord, and are to be treated as such.
We believe that children thrive best in homes where they are given the opportunity to bond with both a mother and a father through loving familial relationships. For this reason, where allowed by law, Nightlight will only place children in Christian married families, with both a mother and a father.
The following statements are intended to help you understand the biblical truths that most fundamentally define who we are and the basic requirements we observe.
God
We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is one God in three persons. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the only acceptable sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return to earth again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, for all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)
The People
We believe people are made in the image of God and the pinnacle of His creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, they are damaged and broken by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. Sin separates people from God. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)
Salvation
We believe salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and is received by grace alone, through faith alone. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. That faith is expressed through repentance of sin and baptism by immersion. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth. It exists to communicate the good news of new life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach His followers to obey His teachings, and to equip His followers for ministry. The church is made up of those who have placed their faith in Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:10; Ephesians 4:11-14; Acts 2:38)
Marriage
We believe marriage is holy and established by God, a picture of Jesus Christ and the body of Christ. We believe the Scriptures define marriage as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:21-33)
Life
We believe life is created by and in the image of God Himself. He sustains, and most highly values life in the womb, through our life on earth, to our life in eternity. (Psalm 139:13-16; Acts 17:24-28)
